A reflection on health and wellbeing

In unit 3 I scored my physical a 7, psychological a 7, and spiritual a 6.  For my final, I scored myself a 6 for my physical, a 7 for my psychological, and a 7 for my spiritual.  I'm still in the process of developing these.  I have good days and bad days when it comes to my physical, so there may always be a slight difference in numbers depending on how I feel that day. Overall, my score would be very similar to how I scored myself for unit 3.  I haven't made a ton of progress but, looking back over my goals, I also haven't been following the activities I set myself.  I do try my best to get in daily exercise, but I just haven't found the time to meditate or pray. Finding quiet time when your husband is away and you have 3 children, is almost near impossible.  I think my biggest accomplishment this term was joining a weekly yoga class.  This allows me quiet time for physical, mental, and spiritual.  I currently go once a week but it may be necessary for me to go more in order to reach my goals. I have gained more confidence and feel that I am on the right track.  What I've learned from this course and have applied/am applying in my life will serve to assist others in the future.  I'm training to be a health coach, so I feel its important for me to experience and understand the struggles that my clients may be going through.

  1. Becky,
I also want to be a health coach so I know what you mean that it's important to do what we're doing. I also find yoga to be so helpful. I go to at least one class a week, but I like it so much better when I can do a class at lease 3 times a week. I sometimes do a class that I find online at my yoga online or on you tube. I prefer to be with a group for yoga but it's better than nothing. I couldn't imagine trying to meditate with kids to take care of. I know it's possible, but that's just not something I have to deal with right now. Do your best. I love the idea of making goals for myself and keeping track of them. I'm not very good at it, but maybe if I start writing in my journal more often it'll be easier. Well, good luck in everything you do. It's been a great class.

  2. Elizabeth, assessing yourself and knowing where you are will help you move forward, that's always a great start. To move forward, one needs to have a strong mind set and determination and let nothing and no one keep them back. Keep in mind that these goals are for you, and only you can attain them when you put your mind to it. However, meditation is not so much time consuming, you can practice this at bedtime. Its been a pleasure reading your blogs! Good luck in your future endeavors!

  3. Hello Becky,

I agree that my ratings are about the same as well. My psychological well-being depends on my kind of day so that one is always a range instead of a specific number. I think that is really neat that you are going to become a health coach, and you will make such a difference in peoples' lives. It is hard to find time in life to sit in silence and meditate and concentrate on slowly breathing stress out when we feel like we have a hundred things to do. If we can just do this about ten minutes every other night, it will make a huge impact on our stress level and allow us to perform everything much better. When we see the difference, this will also allow us to become closer to our clients because we have walked the walk and can give them educational advice from experience. Great post and good luck in your future!
